Tutoring Rates
The following information reflects my general tutoring rates. Some tutoring sessions may require additional software or hardware, which may increase the costs associated with the tutoring.
Before we even get to the actual tutoring session, I will work with you to discuss your goals. After I learn more about you and want you want to learn, I will suggest a lesson plan. The lesson plan will estimate how many session you will need, when and where the lesson will take place, and what both you and I need to do to be ready for the session. By establishing a clear plan ahead of time we can make better use of our time together. If you require additional help or time beyond your lesson plan, I will make sure that I am clear on any new financial commitments before proceeding in order to eliminate surprise fees.

Individual tutoring sessions are 1-on-1 session either over the Internet, in your home, or if you prefer in a public location such as a library or coffee shop. | On-Line Session: | $35/hour |
| Northern Chicago and NW Chicago Suburbs in-person session: | $40/hour |
| Greater Chicago area in-person session: | $45/hour |
If you require a live session outside of the greater Chicago area, please contact me for a quote.
Group Tutoring
If you have a small group or require a formal classroom environment, please contact me for a service quote customized specific to your circumstances.
Additional Materials
Some lessons may require the purchase of new software or hardware. For example, if you would like to learn Adobe Dreamweaver, but do not yet own a copy. In many cases, I try to recommend high-quality, tested freeware applications when possible. If you require a commercial application, I may be able to find you the necessary software at a reduced cost through my vendor relationships.
In addition to my time and assistance during your tutoring session, I can prepare personalized study guides, practices exercises, and more to help you on your study. Since this will usually be customized to your specific needs, I will have to quote a price at the time we discuss the materials that you want. Examples of materials I have prepared for individuals in the past:
- Summary/Cheat Sheets: I will create an organized summary sheet that organizes key concepts and steps for you to keep by your side when working with your application. This handy reference can be customized to answer your specific questions and common problems.
- PowerPoint Presentations: I can prepare a lecture style PowerPoint with key ideas and examples for you to refer to when you need a refresher. Some people prefer this to a printed reference because it is easy to match ideas with examples. I can even use advanced technologies in PowerPoint to convert the presentation into an interactive tutor. The interactive features will allow you to browse slides out of order.
- Screencast presentations: For more complex problems, a cheat sheet or presentation may not be enough. Screencasting is the art of filming your screen so you can see every single minor step and output results. Screencasts provide the most clarity and the best reference, however, they are the most expensive option do to the time required to first create the screencast and the edit the video with post-production software.
I want to make sure that you have the best learning experience and that you can fit your education into your budget needs. I will work with you to discuss all of your options at any time to prevent unexpected fees. As any truly smart businessman will tell you, it is much better to be honest with your customers to build long-term relationships that to take advantage of someone and run.
Payment Policies and Procedures:
All services offered by Web Design Hero can be paid for either in cash or through PayPal. With PayPal you can pay using your credit card, your checking account, of your PayPal balance. You do not have to have a PayPal account or a PayPal balance in order to use PayPal. PayPal is one of the most popular and trusted online payment processors in the world, and is owned by eBay{http://www.ebay.com}. By utilizing PayPal both the seller and the customer are provided many protections. There is a clear record of all transactions and it is easy to manage both invoices and payments.
For most in-person service you may pay in cash, however, I cannot accept personal checks on the day of service. For online sessions, you must generally pay at minimum the first hour of tutoring upfront. This is required because of customers who have in the past not paid after completing their session. If either you or I must cancel the session, PayPal provides a simple method for me to provide a refund and for you to recover your money. Before the creation of additional materials, payment must be made upfront in full due to the substantial amount of time required to create such products.
If you have any questions about the above policies, please feel free to ask me before we start your tutoring session. You will be reminded to review this policy before we begin any service. The policy is designed to help create a fair playing field for both myself the instructor and you the student.
