Buschauer Portraits

Buschauer Portraits is a photo portrait studio and framing company located in Barrington, IL. While experienced in photography, Buschauer needed assistance and expertise in improving their web presence and starting an online marketing campaign. While they already had a basic website they had created on their own, the site lacked the necessary optimization, interactive features, and ease of management which Buschauer wanted on their site.

In order to keep costs low, we decided to go with a Facebook Page approach. Using the Facebook platform, Buschauer is able to more easily manage his photo portfolios and can now easily interact with his customers. His Facebook page allows him to easily reuse content, and provides him with basic blogging features, twitter integration, and a whole host of useful tools and third party applications. By using the Facebook platform, I was able to provide turn-around very rapidly and at a significantly lower cost. His new Facebook page has a built in testimonials/review application, and he is getting great interaction with previous customers using the wall/feed feature.

Because the site is interactive, anyone can comment on his work and easily share it with friends, providing free advertising and utilizing the power of the second-degree relationship. When compared to other photographers, new customers can see that he has a loyal following, see examples of his work, and see testimonials on his service. Unlike a basic website, there is no guessing about his professional quality or if those are "real" testimonials on his website, because anyone can click on an author's picture and see they have a real profile. Over time, this will help distinguish Buschauer from the competition and because he is actively using his feed for mini updates, he can easily keep previous customers engaged, which results in more repeat customers.

Buschauer also presented an interesting challenge this past winter. During the cold winter months, they planned to start operations in southwest Florida. Because he was not well known in the area, we decided it would be a good idea to invest in online advertising. Because we were able to keep the costs of development low by using Facebook, more money was left for advertising. In order to reach the greatest audience, we used multiple platforms and techniques to reach potential customers including Google AdWords and Facebook advertising. I also helped Buschauer by creating a unique and visually engaging ad for Craigslist which would easily impress customers compared to the normal short, under optimized text ads found on craigslist. I provide a large deal of management and optimization for Buschauer Portraits online advertising campaigns, which allows them to focus on their core business. I have also helped them to evaluate other important business factors such as copy-righting and identifying new opportunities to reach a greater audience.
